True Love
Of all the romance novels I’ve read (and I’ve read a lot) and all the songs written about love, I’d say this passage comes the closest to describing what true love feels like. It is a love that is so wonderful, yet scary, to experience.
When feeling this kind of love, you are taken to a place of pure, blissful joy, but also, of vulnerability. Your heart and soul has to bare itself to experience this feeling; a feeling many of us strive to experience at least once in our lives. The caveat is that there is also the possibility of either the other person not feeling the same, or that at anytime, they can walk away from the relationship and not be willing to nurture the love. But the thrill and exhilaration of experiencing this kind of love is worth the risk for those courageous enough to allow themselves to feel it and share it with another person.
Many have walked away because they are either afraid of the vulnerability associated with what they are feeling, or they don’t feel they deserve this kind of unconditional love from someone. Yes, for it to be true love, it has to be unconditional.
I look forward to experiencing this kind of love. I know it’s not something you can make happen, but I anticipate the opportunity to love someone and be loved like that. I have faith in the possibility, but my hope and desire is that when I do, I can share the beautiful gift of true love with someone for the rest of my life. ~ © 2014 T. A. Garcia
