Every Positive Change

"Every positive change--every jump to a higher level of energy and awareness--involves a rite of passage. Each time to ascend to a higher rung on the ladder of personal evolution, we must go through a period of discomfort, of initiation. I have never found an exception." ~ Author Dan Millman, Peaceful Warrior

Change is uncomfortable. Whether the goal is to evolve into being a better person, making positive changes in our love life, or achieving our goals and dreams, discomfort is part of the journey. Change means we have to step out of our comfort zone and nothing in our life can change until we do. In order to manifest the life and relationships we want, we sometimes have to “grow into” what it is we want to achieve; that growth is what is uncomfortable. Whether it’s learning a new profession, improving ourselves to attract a long-term relationship, or achieving a goal or dream we deem just out of our reach, we have to do what it takes to get there. What we do now creates the life and feelings of tomorrow and it will be well worth moving through the fear and anxiety. We shouldn’t discount those feelings as they sometimes bring us heightened awareness, but we need to remember that they aren’t permanent. They can be very uncomfortable and cause us to want to resist them, but when we stop resisting, it’s a lot easier to let them go and move forward.

We need to keep our eye on what it is we want, but meanwhile celebrate minor victories. These minor victories are successes reflecting how capable and powerful we are in manifesting what it is we want in life and in love. We need to give ourselves credit for each small accomplishment and bask in the good feelings they bring. It will make us strive to do more for those good feelings. The additional benefit is the good feelings will positively open us up to more opportunities to feel good.

When the going gets tough, we can’t stop believing in what it is we want and allow the discomfort to discourage us. We can use it as a point in our journey to perhaps course correct, take smaller steps or even to take a breather. We should never use it to give ourselves permission to quit. We need to change our self-talk from “I didn’t want it anyway” to “I can do this! I really want this!”.

So to create the life we want to live, we need to push through the discomfort. This is our chance and the time is now. You can do it, I can do it. I’ll meet you on the other side of fear and resistance. ~ © 2014 T. A. Garcia
